The Livingston Parish Library is seeking a creative, energetic, and service oriented individual to serve as a reference librarian at the Watson Branch Library. The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively apply the principles and practices of librarianship and have a strong desire to serve a diverse community. The Librarian answers difficult reference questions; reviews and suggests books and non-print materials; organizes and conducts adult, teens, and children’s programs; develops exhibits, booklists and promotional materials; attends community and professional meetings; participates in library public relations and outreach activities; assists in designing and implementing library and information services; may provide functional supervision to assigned library staff; and may be temporarily placed to manage a branch library in the absence of the branch manager.
The Livingston Parish Library system consists of a main library, and 4 new branch facilities. The Library offers excellent benefits including: dental insurance, paid medical insurance (employee portion), retirement with the Parochial Employees’ Retirement System of Louisiana (PERS); holiday pay, vacation and sick leave.
The Minimum Qualification is completion of a Masters Degree in Library Science from an accredited Library School. Public Work Experience is a plus.
