COLLECTION AND SERVICES

The Livingston Parish Library provides for the educational, informational, and recreational needs of patrons through a variety of materials, utilizing both conventional and electronic means.

COLLECTION

• A collection of circulating non-fiction  books covers many areas and subjects, including Small Business, Automobile Repair, Photography, Gardening, World War II history, Vietnam War History, Cooking, Computers, Literary Criticism, Louisiana History, and many more.
• A collection of circulating Fiction  books which include many genres: Mysteries, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Thrillers, Romance, Westerns and others.
• A collection of more than 250 different magazines and newspapers, including: Home and Garden, Good Housekeeping, Discover, Motor Trends, etc.
• A collection of Reference materials contains consumer magazines, buying guides, and automobile price guides.  
• The Library also offers access to on-line databases and e-learning resourses such as Mango Languages, Lynda.com, Antiques Reference Center, Newsbank, Career Library, Auto Repair Reference Center, etc.  

SERVICES

• Reference Service  is available to all patrons, both in-person and by telephone, during Library service hours. 
• All of our branches provide Reader's Advisory Services.
• Public access Internet workstations can be found in every library branch.  The Library also offers regular introductory computer training classes on Word, Email, and Internet. Printing is available at a cost of &0.10 per B&W page and $0.25 per color.
• Copy machines are available at all branches.  The cost per copy is $0.10.  Livingston Branch also offers color copying at $0.25 per page. 

PROGRAMS

• The Library offers a wide variety of adult programs, including book clubs, quilting workshops, and informational seminars.
• The Library offers an Interlibrary Loan service through which patrons may request materials from other libraries.
• A typewriter is available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Livingston Branch.
• The Library branches present monthly exhibits  in the art galleries and also in special display cases. If you have a collection you wish to display, please contact your local branch.
• Fax services are available to the patrons at a cost of $1.00 per page.

INTER-LIBRARY  LOAN

• Inter-library loan allows the patron to borrow materials from libraries other than the Livingston Parish Library. You can place your request online, by following the link from the main Library page. 
• The patron is called when the items come in. If the ILL staff is unable to obtain the items requested, they will notify the patron by phone.
