Explore Teen Tech Week!

Event Details

Did you know that part of Livingston Parish Library’s strategic plan is to create innovative technology services? Teen Tech Week, held this year on Sunday, March 4 – Saturday, March 10 is a time when our library system showcases all of the digital resources and services available to help teens succeed in school, prepare for college, and have some fun along the way!

Teen Tech Week’s 2018 theme is “Libraries are for Creating.” The entire month of March, all ages are encouraged to show their creativity:

Idea Lab

Our Idea Lab, located in the Denham Springs-Walker Branch, is a place where cutting-edge technology has been made available for public use. We invite you to use our equipment to bring your creativity to life. From simple to complicated projects, the Idea Lab is where you can transform concepts into reality. Learn about the equipment available, lab hours, and more here.

Virtual Wednesdays

Escape your Wednesday by exploring virtual worlds at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch each Wednesday in March from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Bring yourself, your family, and your friends to take turns on a variety of games on the HTC VIVE! All ages are invited. We’ll also feature VR headsets that you can use with your smartphone to try out even more virtual realities.

“Livingston Parish Library continually strives to be a front runner in bringing technology to our patrons,” Head of Youth Services Lesley Campbell says. “The public library is the perfect place for teens to get exposure and hand-on experience with different types of technology that allows them to be creative and learn new skills to help them in the workforce.”
