Livingston Parish Library patrons logged more than 81,000 books – more than 1,000 per day – during a record-breaking Summer Reading Program challenge.
This summer, SRP participants logged approximately 81,036 books this summer. That equates to 1,052 books each day or 43 books per hour (1,848 total hours) for the duration of the Summer Reading Program, which ran May 19 – August 3.
The LPL’s Summer Reading Program awards prizes to readers of all ages for reading books and attending Library events during the summer months. This year’s SRP theme was Color Our World, highlighting the power art has to transform, uplift, and connect us all.
The Summer Reading Program is broken into four age groups, listed below:
Read-To-Me (Ages 0-5)
Youth (Ages 6-12)
Teen (Ages 13-18)
Adult (Ages 18+)
