Livingston Parish Library to host ‘Lawyers in Libraries’ program

The Livingston Parish Library will host a Lawyers in Libraries event at its Main Branch on two dates this month, giving residents a chance to discuss their legal concerns with a licensed attorney at no cost.

Lawyers in Libraries is a statewide program, a partnership with the Louisiana State Bar Association (LSBA), the State Library of Louisiana, and the Louisiana Library Association.

The event will take place on:

  • 9-11 a.m. on Monday, October 26
  • 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Friday, October 30

Attorneys will answer questions on a wide range of civil legal topics, including bankruptcy, civil lawsuits, collection matters, custody, divorce, evictions, FEMA and disaster benefits, food stamps, foreclosures, housing, Medicaid, Social Security, SSI/SSDI, successions, taxes and wills.

The clinic does not handle criminal matters.

Registration is required, and participants must be 18 or older.
