Livingston Parish Book Festival

We’re excited to announce the return of our annual book festival celebrating books, literacy, and our great parish! Join us on Saturday, October 15 for the Livingston Parish Book Festival at the Main Branch in Livingston.

This year’s book festival will be headlined by New York Times Bestselling Author Kwame Alexander. Alexander is a poet, educator, publisher, and author of 36 books, including “Swing”, “Becoming Muhammad Ali”, “Rebound”; which was co-authored with James Patterson and shortlisted for the prestigious UK Carnegie Medal, and The Caldecott Medal and Newberry Honor-winning picture book “The Undefeated”. During the book festival, Alexander will host an author talk and book signing.

A. Lonergan prides herself as a reader first. She found a love for reading at a young age, even though she had to teach herself how to do so. Once she fell into that first make-believe land, she couldn’t be pulled out again. She dove head first in any kind of fantasy book she could get her hands on. It didn’t take her long after that to pick up a pen and start writing the stories swirling around in her head. A. Lonergan published her first novel in 2017. She has published twenty-two novels so far, and she doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon.

Jeanette Rose Weiland is the Senior Vice President of Bio, Innovation, & Special Projects at the New Orleans Business Alliance, the city’s official economic development organization with a distinct focus on equity and inclusion. Her additional roles include wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, neighbor, board member, historic building lover, household laundry manager, and children’s book author.

Readers and viewers alike are sure to sink their teeth into this time-hopping mystery-within-a-mystery. The story revolves around book editor Susan Ryeland, who finally receives a long-awaited mystery manuscript from her prima donna author, featuring famous detective, Atticus Pünd. There’s just one problem: the final chapters are missing!

Over the course of six episodes, we try to solve two mysteries, traveling across modern-day London and the cozy 1950s countryside village from the unfinished novel. It all adds up to a beguiling murder mystery with a solution that will both astonish and shock viewers.

Magpie Murders premieres on Sunday, October 16 on MASTERPIECE on LPB, but you can get a sneak peek at this year's Book Fest!
