Readers Club
Sign Up TODAY to join Livingston Parish’s biggest community of avid readers!
The Livingston Parish Library's Readers Club is a year-long reading challenge that runs from Jan. 1- Dec. 31 and awards participants for reaching reading milestones within that year.
Introduced in 2022, the Readers Club is the perfect way to learn about new books, genres, topics, and interests! Thousands of people have signed up for Readers Club over the last three years, making this Livingston Parish’s biggest club centered around reading!
Participants can read or listen to books of their own choosing, and they can also complete Monthly Challenges based on a particular theme.
At the end of the challenge, the Livingston Parish Library will host a Readers Club Reception to honor patrons that received Bronze (25 books), Silver (50 books), Gold (75 books), and Platinum (100 books) status.
So whether you want to connect with other reading enthusiasts, challenge yourself to read more, or discover your next favorite book, Readers Club is the club for you!
Livingston Parish Library uses a web-based program called Beanstack to track progress for all its reading challenges.
You can log your books into Beanstack all year long to receive "Logging Badges."
When you reach 25, 50, 75, and 100 books, you will receive a Reward in Beanstack to earn prizes.
Prizes will be awarded at the end of the challenge during the Readers Club Reception in January of the next year.
If you are unable make it to the Reception, you will be able to pick up your prize at your local branch after the date of the Reception.
Along with reading or listening to books of their own choosing, participants can enter into Monthly Challenges to win more prizes.
Here's how it works:
- To take part in the challenge, read a book based on that month’s theme.
- In Beanstack, log one book into an Activity Badge to complete that month’s challenge. That will automatically enter you into the monthly prize drawing.
- Logging must take place within the dates for the badge to earn it.
The Monthly Challenge theme for the 2025 Readers Club is A Journey Through Genres.
Each month’s theme will feature a different genre, location, and attraction. To complete the Monthly Challenge, read or listen to a book that falls into one of those three categories.
For example: The theme for January is “Winter is Coming.” The featured genre is Fantasy; the feature locations are Alaska, Canada, or Northern Europe; and the featured attractions are Northern Lights and Snowy Mountains.
To complete January’s Monthly Challenge, you must:
- Read a fantasy book, OR
- Read a book set in Alaska, Canada, or Northern Europe, OR
- Read a book featuring the Northern Lights or Snowy Mountains
