The Livingston Parish Library Board of Control unanimously voted to appoint Kyla Robertson Webb as interim director of the Livingston Parish Library, effective immediately, during its meeting on Friday, August 8.
Webb has been with the system for the last four years and currently serves as the Library’s Head of Community Engagement.
“I am honored to be appointed Interim Director of the Livingston Parish Library,” Webb said. “I look forward to continuing to serve our amazing community and ensuring that the Library continues to fulfill its mission to the residents of Livingston Parish.”
Webb joined the LPL team in 2021 as Head of Youth Services, a position where she quickly distinguished herself through innovative programming that aligned with the community’s needs and the library’s goal to foster a love for reading and literacy. After nearly two years in that role, Webb was promoted to Head of Community Engagement when the adult services and youth services departments were combined in 2023.
In her role as the Head of Community Engagement, Webb’s duties include overseeing the development and execution of all Livingston Parish Library events; supervising adult and youth services departments to ensure efficient operations; collaborating with library leadership, branch managers, and community partners; maintaining planning manuals, records, and statistics; and developing and managing multiple budgets.
The Library has seen significant increases in event attendance under Webb’s leadership, rising from 25,860 in 2022 (the year before her promotion to Head of Community Engagement) to 55,704 in 2024. That is an increase of 116% in two years.
Along with her other duties, Webb oversees the system’s major community events and initiatives: Comic Con, Summer Reading Program, and Book Festival. All three have reached record levels of participation and attendance under her leadership.
In addition to her work for the library, Webb has shown a commitment to community service in Livingston Parish. She is a 2024 graduate of Leadership Livingston, the parish’s premier leadership-building program under the Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. During her time in the program, Webb and her project group raised $11,500 to build a family rest station at the Child Advocacy Center in Denham Springs.
Webb will serve as interim director of the Livingston Parish Library until the Board of Control fills the permanent position. She will continue to oversee Community Engagement.
