Bright Star Theatre, a national touring theatre company, is bringing three exciting performances to the Livingston Parish Library on Saturday, October 4.

The performances are for all ages, and they are free to attend.

Franken-Bully

Time: 10:30 a.m.

Location: Albany-Springfield Branch

Synopsis: In the town of Crumbleton, young scientist Frankie Sparks builds a giant, goofy creature named Bolt, hoping to create the perfect friend. But when Bolt shows mean-spirited behavior, chaos erupts as Bolt turns into a “Franken-Bully!” With humor and the help of others, Frankie teaches Bolt the importance of kindness, empathy, and standing up for others. Packed with laughs and heart, Franken-Bully shows kids how to be builders of kindness, not breakers of others’ spirits.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

Time: 1:30 p.m.

Location: Denham Springs-Walker Branch

Synopsis: One of the first true classics of American literature, this is an authentic retelling of Washington Irving’s story of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman! When Ichabod Crane takes a new job as schoolmaster of Sleepy Hollow, he was expecting to have a simple life, but things get complicated very quickly! This tale is just spooky enough to delight any audience as the days get shorter, the air gets colder, and the nights turn long and dark. A perfect introduction to this literary classic.

A Tell-Tale Tale: The Stories & Poems of Edgar Allan Poe

Time: 2:45 p.m.

Location: Denham Springs-Walker Branch

Synopsis: No one tells a story quite like the Great Edgar Allan Poe! In this performance, spooky and clever stories and poems come to life before your very eyes. With a mastery of language that few can match, Edgar Allan Poe’s stories and poems are as impactful today as they were in the 19th century when they were written. This show blends rich language with expert storytelling to produce a rich language arts experience for middle grades. Stories include “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Raven,” “The Bells” and more!
