Livingston Parish Library patrons have tallied more than 82,000 eAudiobook checkouts so far in 2024, eclipsing the previous system record set in 2023 and elevating the item’s status among the Library’s most popular services. 

From January through November 2024, Livingston Parish Library patrons checked out approximately 82,310 eAudiobooks. That is 15 percent higher than the previous record of 71,340 set in 2023, with one month remaining this year. 

Locally, the popularity of eAudiobooks has surged over the last four years, rising by more than 134 percent since 2020 (35,148 eAudiobook circulations). Here’s a breakdown of the Livingston Parish Library's eAudiobook circulations by year since 2020:

  • 2020 – 35,148 

  • 2021 – 43,646 

  • 2022 – 56,483 

  • 2023 – 71,340 

  • 2024 – 82,310 (January – November 2024) 

In 2023, eAudiobook circulations accounted for nearly half (48 percent) of all digital content checkouts.  

The Livingston Parish Library offers several digital resources for eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, music, television shows, eCourses, and more. This falls in line with the Library’s mission to provide all members of the community with the resources and programs necessary to fulfill their informational, educational, recreational, and cultural needs.
