What is Readers Club

Are you up for a challenge? Sign up today for Readers Club!

The Livingston Parish Library's Readers Club is a year-long reading challenge that runs from Jan. 1- Dec. 31 and gives participants the chance to win prizes for reaching reading milestones within that year.

Along with reading or listening to books of their own choosing, participants can enter into Monthly Challenges to win more prizes. To take part in the challenge, participants must read a book based on that month’s theme.

At the end of the challenge, the Livingston Parish Library will host a Readers Club Reception to honor patrons that received Bronze (25), Silver (50), Gold (75), and Platinum (100) status.

Whether you want to connect with other reading enthusiasts, challenge yourself to read more, or discover your next favorite book, our Readers Club is the club for you!

Rules

Livingston Parish Library uses a web-based program called Beanstack to track progress for all its reading challenges.

You can log your books into Beanstack all year long to receive "Logging Badges."

When you reach 25, 50, 75, and 100 books, you will receive a Reward in Beanstack to earn prizes.

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the challenge during the Readers Club Reception in January of the next year.

If you are unable make it to the Reception, you will be able to pick up your prize at your local branch after the date of the Reception.

Monthly Themed Challenges

Along with reading or listening to books of their own choosing, participants can enter into Monthly Challenges to win more prizes.

Here's how it works:

  • To take part in the challenge, read a book based on that month’s theme.
  • In Beanstack, log one book into an Activity Badge to complete that month’s challenge. That will automatically enter you into the monthly prize drawing.
  • Logging must take place within the dates for the badge to earn it.
  • Prizes will be drawn the first week of the month following the challenge.
2024 Theme: Reading Through the Decades

The Monthly Challenge theme for the 2024 Readers Club is Reading Through the Decades, with each month representing a specific decade from the 1900s to 2010s.

To complete a Monthly Challenge, read a book published or set during the specified decade.

For example: The theme for March is “1920s,” meaning you could read “The Great Gatsby” (published in 1925) or “The Magnolia Palace” (set in the 1920s, but published in 2022).

Here are the themes for each month in 2024:
