Resources

Livingston Parish Library loves our teachers and we want to support you all throughout the school year. Our experienced and knowledgeable staff can help with many requests inside and outside our library branches using our school resources. This is your starting point to discovering how the library can help you enrich your classroom in a variety of ways.

Educator Library Card

Have you heard about our new educator-only library card? Educator Library Cards allow teachers to check out a maximum of 80 items at a time for six (6) weeks. You can also renew them once for another six (6) weeks!

To apply for an educator library card, speak to our front desk staff at your preferred branch. Please bring proof of employment as an educator. (school badge, pay stub, etc).

Facility Use Library Card

Your school can now apply for a facility use library card!

Your school’s principal should apply for the card, choosing two administrators to check out materials. With a facility use card, your school can:

  • Check out a maximum of 50 books for up to two (2) months
  • Create your own collection for projects
  • Expand your school’s book selection

Schedule a Library Field Trip

Have a little extra time on field trip day? Schedule the library as part of your agenda!

Your students will have the opportunity to learn all about the library while having fun. We’ll talk about getting a library card, introduce library services and programs, and take students on a tour. We can also present a storytime or puppet show for younger audiences.

Required Reading

We would like to have books on hand for your students to check out when they come into the library looking for required reading. While we cannot ensure a copy for every student, advance notification will help us do our best to get your students what they need. This also includes summer reading lists. If you have a reading list or any required reading, let us know!
