The Livingston Parish Library Board of Control is the governing body for the Livingston Parish Library system.
Board members are appointed by the parish council and include residents from across Livingston Parish. Board members are appointed to five-year terms and may serve more than one term.
Regular library board meetings are held every other month (January, March, May, July, September, November) at 6:00 PM CST and are open to the public.
As of January 2024, the Livingston Parish Library Board of Control will provide a live stream of all its public meetings.
This follows Act 393 of the 2023 Regular Session, which amended Louisiana's Open Meetings law to permit certain, eligible public bodies and agencies to conduct its open meetings via electronic means (e.g., videoconference or teleconference).

To be as transparent and accountable as possible in the challenge process, the Library maintains a publicly-available list of all 3-309a and 3-309c forms it receives.
The information includes the title, the collection of materials before and after the challenge, why the material is being challenged, who has decided on it, the decision made on the challenge, and the date the decision was made.
